Forehead lift
Forehead lift is performed in patients seeking rejuvenation of upper part of the face.
These are usually individuals with one or few of the following symptoms:
– inferiorly displaced eyebrows causing “sad” and “tired” appearance,
– skin excess in forehead,
– deep transverse forehead wrinkles,
– deep wrinkles of glabella (area between eyebrows),
– deep transverse wrinkles of the nose radix.
Forehead lift is frequently combined with other rejuvenation procedures such as face lift, neck lift and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), providing complex rejuvenation of aging face and neck.
In some patients rejuvenation of upper eyelids is not required after elevation of the forehead with eyebrows.
Forehead lift can be performed in standard or endoscopic fashion. Bothe methods have their indications and limitations and are not applied interchangeably. If standard one is employed, operation is performed from long incision located within scalp. Endoscopic approach requires 3 short (1-2cm) incisions within hairline. Despite method employed, they both aim at elevation of the forehead skin and resection of its excess.
Procedure is performed under general anesthesia.
Patient remains in the facility from 6 to 24 hours. Return to non-strenuous activity is on the next days after surgery and to normal one after 2 weeks.
Appearance will improve gradually within 6-8 weeks.
Final result is obtained after 6 month and is related to normal physiology of healing process.
Forehead lift rejuvenates operated area but doesn’t stop natural aging process.
